Name: Leroy Francis
Up the country or Down the Country: Up the country
Age: 26
Hustle: West Pembroke Primary School's Music Teacher
What's your personal style: (Fashionably) Don't really have one. If I see something that looks descent on me...then I'm good to go. (Musically) Gospel music - it involves the widest range of musical styles
When did you start producing music: From the technological perspective, I started mixing/engineering in 2007. Musically, I've been into composing/arranging and producing music since I was around 5-6 years old. My mom always had a piano in the house...and when I reached around 11...I got my first drum set!
Did you go to school for music: Yeah. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2005, with a BA in Professional Music. I went there with drums as my principle musical instrument. Through friendships I began to get more conscious of the technological side of music production.
What inspires your music: My moods...and other creative musicians' works. But mainly my moods.
Where do you see your career in 5 years: I see myself at West Pembroke Primary School teaching, I intend on starting a Music school on the island that focuses on teaching students how to play the drum set and basic piano. It will also involve music creation/production for young, aspiring producers. I also strive on making LFrancisProductions more known throughout the community...and the world.
Has Bermuda been receptive to your music: Not really.
Has your music been on the radio as yet: Yeah, I just found out that a song I wrote and produced, "What Bermuda's About" has been on the radio several times. I don't know what stations though.
What new do you have going on: The newest thing going on in my life right now is that currently, I'm in London...attending London University Institute of Education, where I'm pursuit of a Master's in music education. I'm real excited about this venture that I'm on right now
Do you think you will move back home to pursue a career in music: Yeah. with technology, you can be wherever you want to be...even in SMALL Bermuda and still strive for BIG goals. And plus, home's home....no place like home
Last word: You can't achieve something, without planning something. Life's like a chess game...every move made must be planned. We can't afford to make SILLY moves; those moves will end your game FAST!!!
