Inventor, Entrepreneur, Millionaire By Davika Hill

At one point in time being a Black woman was hard. Not only would you have had to fight for equal rights on a racial level but on a gender level as well. Despite this, there have been many Black women throughout history and still to this day who have made it out on the top. One such woman is the infamous Madam C. J. Walker.
Madam C. J. Walker is a Black woman that I really admire. Instead of choosing to let the circumstances of the day keep her from achieving her goals she pushed through adversity and became in entrepreneur. Originally named Sarah Breedlove, Madam Walker was born on a plantation to ex-slaves. Her parents died when she was young. In her early teens she was married however a few years later at the young age of 20 she became a widow.
Madam C. J. Walker is known for her line of beauty products. She would go door to door, selling her homemade products. Her line of products became so successful that she became a popular businesswoman and eventually had other women working for her. Also, the high demand for her products made her a millionaire.
Through the course of her life Madam C. J. Walker contributed to many Black organizations such as the NAACP. She also aided in the start of the Harlem Renaissance. Madam C. J. Walker is truly a phenomenal woman. This Black History month we celebrate her for her contributions to Black society and to Black hair care.
